A10 Accident Today: Serious Crash Near Ryston Park Golf Club Forces Closure of A10

A large law enforcement response was reported at Coligny Beach on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, after authorities received multiple reports of gunfire near the popular beachfront destination. Deputies from the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office, along with emergency personnel, responded quickly to secure the area and investigate the incident.

According to authorities, numerous 911 callers reported hearing gunshots near the beach, prompting deputies to establish a security perimeter while searching for victims and identifying those involved. Although the reports caused panic among beachgoers, investigators later confirmed that no gunshot victims were located at the scene or at nearby hospitals.

Preliminary findings indicate the gunfire occurred during a gathering on the beach that escalated into a disturbance. Detectives immediately launched an investigation, interviewing witnesses, reviewing surveillance footage, and collecting evidence to determine the sequence of events.

Through surveillance video and other investigative leads, authorities identified and arrested a 20-year-old man from Okatie. He has been charged with aggravated breach of peace and violating a Hilton Head ordinance that prohibits the discharge of firearms within town limits. Officials noted that the investigation remains active and additional charges or arrests have not been ruled out.

The incident prompted an increased law enforcement presence around Coligny Beach and briefly disrupted activity in one of Hilton Head Island’s busiest tourist areas. Deputies reassured residents and visitors that, despite the reported gunfire, no injuries had been confirmed.

Investigators continue reviewing evidence and are asking anyone who witnessed the incident or captured photographs or video to contact the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office. Authorities say even small pieces of information could assist detectives as they continue their investigation.

Officials are also reminding the public to rely on verified information from law enforcement agencies and to avoid spreading unconfirmed reports on social media while the investigation remains ongoing.

Police say additional information will be released as the investigation progresses and confirmed details become available.
